VADODARA: Former lieutenant commander Aishwarya Boddapati gave an inspiring talk to over 100 women in the city on Friday during an event organised to celebrate the International Women’s Day. The event, including a walkathon, was organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Vadodara.

Boddapati was among the all-women six Navy officers to circumnavigate the world on an Indian naval sailing vessel Tarini in Navika Sagar Parikrama. They spent over 200 days during the sail, battled strong winds and high tides, and ventured into unexplored territories.
Recalling her memorable moment after completing the sail, she said: “I went to my school and my pictures were posted on the notice board. A student there said that she wants to be like Aishwariya Boddapati and it was a very special moment for me.”

Boddapati now motivates people by narrating the unique stories of her crew’s experiences during the sail. “The film being made on us has helped reach our story to the people and also inspire the generations to come,” said Boddapati.

FLO, Vadodara chairperson Barkha Amin, said: “FLO is committed to empowering women making them realize their full potential.”
The 5km walkathon was followed by a talk by Boddapati and one of her crew members.
