West Bengal: BSF Unearths Underground Bunkers With Phensedyl Near Indo-Bangla Border

Kolkata: BSF raided Nahata at Krishnaganj in Nadia district near Indo-Bangla border and found 62,200 bottles of Phensedyl, a cough syrup banned in Bangladesh from three underground bunkers.

According to the media statement issued by BSF, the estimated value of which is Rs 1,40,58,444.

The statement also mentioned that the recovery of such a huge consignment of Phensedyl is being seen as a huge blow to the smuggling attempts in the area.

Krishnaganj police also helped the BSF jawans in unearthing such bunkers.

“This seizure has exposed the depth of the smuggling network active in the area and their modus operandi. The seized consignment of Phensedyl has been handed over to the concerned department for further legal action,” read the statement.

BSF South Bengal Frontier spokesperson Nilotpal Kumar Pandey appreciated this significant operation and said that this achievement is a testament of vigilance, courage and commitment of the Border Security Force personnel. He further said that more information is being gathered on this complex network of smugglers which may lead to bigger revelations in the future.

The discovery of such bunkers comes amid the unrest in the neighboring Bangladesh.
