Imphal: The villagers in the periphery between Bishnupur and Churachandpur district of Manipur remain in tension as armed militant group continue to attack the villages.
On Wednesday, a 20-year old youth died in a bomb attack by armed militant at Phougatchao Ikhai.
According to reports, two persons sustained bullet injury on Thursday after bullets fired from another range hit the villagers.
Sources said armed militant attacked the villagers in Bishnupur district at around 5 am on Thursday, following which security forces deployed in the area retaliated the militants with gunfight.
Former general secretary of Manipur Peoples Party, H. Geetagen sustained bullet injury during the gunfight. He went to his friend’s house at Phougakchao Ikhai.
According to reports, a gunbattle broke out in the wee hours on Thursday morning at Phougakchao Ikhai and Terakhong in Bishnupur district.
Two village defence volunteers have been reportedly sustained bullet injuries in the exchange of fire.
Sources said the situation in Bishnupur district of Manipur has been in tense after the two communities started a gunfight.
In another incident, a village volunter sustained injuries in an attack by suspected militant at Kangvai Maning Heikol, located in the adjoining areas of Bishnupur and Churachandpur district.
