Dibrugarh: In the memory of martyr soldier Balmukund, a Dibrugarh road near Amolapatty area was dedicated to his name as Balmukund road on Monday.
CRPF DIG Rajiv Ranjan , MLA Prashant Phukan, 171 CRPF Battalion CO Samir Srivastava, martyr Balmukund wife Usha Devi and Dibrugarh Municipal Board chairman Saikat Patra were present during the programme.
On December, 1998, Balmukund was martyred while fighting with terrorist. He was posted at 63rd Battalion of CRPF.
While speaking, Usha Devi said, “I am happy in the memory of my husband the road was dedicated to his name. He made supreme sacrifice for our country and we are proud of him,”.
Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan said, “It is a very good initiative to name the road after those who sacrificed their life for the country. The road will be a source of inspiration for others and the youth will get inspiration to serve for their country,”.
Phukan honoured the family members of the martyr Balmukund with gifts.
Balmukund, a resident of Dibrugarh who was martyred while fighting with terrorist.
