Assam: Leopard trapped in irong cage in Tengakhat, taken to Kaziranga rehabilitation centre for treatment

Dibrugarh: Yet again a full-grown leopard was trapped in a iron cage at Tengakhat in eastern Assam Dibrugarh on Wednesday.

According to locals, the leopard was trapped in a cage on Wednesday afternoon.

“The leopard was creating a terror in our locality for last several days. The leopard took away many of our domestic animals. We have informed about the incident to forest department and they placed a cage at Tengakhat where the animal was last spotted. At last the leopard was successfully caged,” said a local resident.

After the animal of caged, people from villages holding sticks came to see the leopard and injuring the animal with the sticks.

“The leopard was injured and we took him to Jeypore reserve forest to release it but after that the animal was taken to Kaziranga rehabilitation centre for treatment,” said an forest official.

On Tuesday, a leopard was caged successfully at Godapani bridge in Dibrugarh.

According to locals, the leopard has been creating terror in the area for last several days.

“The leopard was brought to the forest office and after check-up, the full grown leopard was released into wild,” a forest official said.
